Microscope Mania

5th graders at Creekside Elementary were treated to a close up look at microorganisms in their environments on Friday January 10, 2014.  Mrs. Karen Quick the Curriculum Resource Specialist for K-12 Science came on Thursday and taught the students the basics of microscopes and how to use them.  Students were shocked when they were able to see a laser printed capital E at 400x magnification!  The following day students used their knowledge of microscopes to look at Mold, E. Coli bacteria, Strep bacteria and Algae to help them build their understanding of microorganisms and their roles within an ecosystem.  Even the teachers, Mrs. Sarah Ruddock and Ms. Jessica Kirk, were given insight into a whole new world.  Here is a peek at the fun:
